Three days training programme on “Oyster Mushroom Cultivation: A Potential Enterprise to Double Farmers’ Income” conducted under AICRP on Mushroom at ICAR-RC-NEH, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib
ICAR-RC-NEH, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib successfully organized three days training programme on Oyster Mushroom Cultivation A Potential Enterprise to Double Farmers’ Income during 26th to 28th February, 2020 under AICRP on Mushroom. The objective of the training programme was to impart hands on training for entrepreneurship development through mushroom cultivation and enhancing farmers’ income by adopting oyster mushroom cultivation. All together 40 farmers from different places of Kolasib and Aizawl attended the training programme. Dr. I. Shakuntala, Joint Director, ICAR-RC-NEH Region inaugurated the training programme and expressed the scope and importance of mushroom cultivation to double farmers’ income. Mr. Sunil Kumar Sunani, Scientist (Plant Pathology) welcomed the participants and explained about the infrastructure requirement for setting up of a composite mushroom farm, cultivation practices of oyster mushroom, spawning of substrate, different insect-pest and disease management in mushroom cultivation. Dr. Vishambhar Dayal, Scientist (Horticulture) gave lecture on Post-harvest handling and value addition of mushrooms and also conducted practical on Post-harvest handling for value addition including dehydration of mushrooms, mushroom Pakoda preparation. Dr. Lungmuna Scientist (Soil Scientist) explained about Vermicomposting technologies through utilisation of mushroom waste. Ms. Oinam Bidyalaxmi Devi (YP 1) also illustrated about the nutritional and medicinal value of mushrooms and - its relevance in healthy food and spawn preparation technique for mushrooms.The programme was coordinated by Mr. Sunil Kumar Sunani, Scientist (Plant Pathology), and Dr. Vishambhar Dayal, Scientist (Horticulture).
